This program is designed to enhance the student’s ability to perform critical skill sets to meet the intent of NFPA 1006 Veh. Rescue Awareness & Operations. This course will present vehicle extrication theories, techniques, & challenges that involve common passenger vehicles, to accurately & safely execute the skill sets required for professional certification of Vehicle Awareness & Operations. Topics include: rescue incident management, simple machinery types, extrication strategies & tactics for common passenger vehicles, resource management, stabilization systems, hazard identification & control, technical rescue equipment identification & application, extrication tools, methods, & selection criteria, basic patient care, packaging, & lifting & moving, basic extrication techniques, & applicable OSHA & NFPA laws & standards. This course is designed for the experienced rescuer with a strong working knowledge of technical rescue in accordance with NFPA 1006 Chap. 10 & 1670. The course is designed to prepare the rescuer for professional certification testing (written & practical skills) in accordance with NFPA 1006 Vehicle Rescue Awareness and Operations.
