This entry level course has been combined to include the Introduction to Fire Service and Fire Ground Support for the new 2026 EL-26 program. This course is designed to introduce new firefighters to the fundamental principles and operations of the fire service. Topics include an overview of the fire service and its organization, firefighter safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), terrorism awareness, and basic fireground operations. Students will also learn about water supply, fire hose handling, ropes and knots, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) support, tools and equipment, communication procedures, and alarm systems.
